Guimarães Noc Noc (2016)

O ano passado falei aqui no blog sobre a minha experiência como voluntária no Guimarães Noc Noc e como este ano, por falta de disponibilidade, não pode voltar a voluntariar-me, vou falar-vos da minha experiência como espectadora deste evento ligado ás Artes.

Esta foi a 6 edição do evento que todos os anos enche as ruas e casas de Guimarães de arte e artistas. Como expliquei o ano passado, a premissa do evento é simples, "qualquer um pode participar, qualquer um pode expor e qualquer um pode oferecer a sua casa como museu durante dois dias".

Last year, I told you, here on the blog, about my experience as a volunteer in Guimarães Noc Noc, in Portugal. 

This year, for lack of availability, I could not return as a volunteer, but I will tell you about this art event  from my experience as a viewer.

This was the sixth edition of the event that every year fills of art and artists the streets and houses of Guimarães. As I explained last year, the premise of the event is simple, “anyone can participate, anyone can expose and anyone can offer here home as a museum for two days.”

Este ano a sinalética, usada para marcar os locais de "exposição", eram umas casinhas de pássaro, pintadas com os números de cada casa.

This year the signs, used to mark the locations of "exposure," were a bird houses, painted with the numbers of each house.

Foram imensos os artistas que escolheram este evento para expor o seu trabalho, imenso o trabalho dos voluntários e organizadores do Gnocnoc e por isso, imensa a variedade de propostas artísticas. 

Encontramos situações engraçadas, como quando reparamos que a musica que ouvíamos vinha de um terraço, no topo de uma casa e outras um tanto inesperadas e constrangedoras, como quando nos deparamos com uma projeção de um video pornográfico dentro de uma das casas de exposição. Haviam intensas performances que duravam horas e por isso viam-se em fragmentos, outras mais passageiras mas não menos interessantes.

There were a huge amount of artists who have chosen this event to exhibit there work, the work of volunteers and organizers of Gnocnoc was immense and so the variety of artistic proposals.

We find funny situations, such as when we notice that the music we heard was from a terrace on top of a house and other uns was unexpected and embarrassing, as when we face a projection of a pornographic video in one of the exhibition halls. They had intense performances lasting hours and other intresting  works. 

Com tanta oferta, foi impossível ver tudo, filmar tudo e mostrar tudo, mas acho que também faz parte do evento. Uma espécie de memória única que varia de espectador para espectador, mutável de ano para ano e de hora para hora, porque tudo nesse fim de semana era diferente em Guimarães.

Espero que tenham gostado deste olhar sob o Gnoc noc 6. Não hesitem em partilhar e a dar a conhecer este evento com os vossos amigos artistas para que também eles tenham a oportunidade de participar na edição do próximo ano!

With this huge amount of offer, it was impossible to see everything, shoot everything and show everything, but I think that is also part of the event. A kind of unique memory ranging from spectator to spectator, changing from year to year and from hour to hour, because all this weekend was different in Guimarães, Portugal.

Book Fotográfico: Inês

Bom dia alegria!

Para quem anda atenta ao nosso facebook já sabe que agora também temos um canal no youtube para o 3o'clock e por isso muitas coisas novas se avizinham em formato video. 

A primeira novidade em formato video será desvendada hoje, com uma espécie de teser daquilo que se passou um dia destes com o 3o´clock e uma amiga nossa, a Inês.

A Inês faz de modelo para nós imensas vezes, mas chegou a altura de fazer, em colaboração com ela, uma coisa mais séria e, apesar disso, muito mais divertida e entusiasmaste. Um book fotográfico.

Those who were attentive to our facebook page, already know that  now we also have a youtube chanel.

The first video is kind of a teser of what happened the other day with 3o’clock and a friend of ours, Inês.

Inês is our model many times, but this time we decided that we shoud do something more serious and yet, much more fun. A photographic book. 

O dia começou cedo com a maquilhagem, feita pela Patricia Oliveira, e todas as preparações necessárias para as fotos. 

Escolhemos a roupa e os acessórios e parti-mos para o local onde decorreria a sessão, a casa da musica, no Porto.

Estava muito vento, como se nota em todas as fotos e por isso foi complicado para a Patricia, que nesta altura já estava a fazer de minha assistente, segurar o refletor, e para a Inês, manter a compostura, mas portado-nos as 3 lindamente e o resultado foi ainda melhor do que o esperado.

The day started early with the makeup made by Patricia Oliveira, and all the necessary preparations for the photos.

We choose clothes, accessories and the place where the photoshoot would have place, the house of music in Porto.

It was windy, as noted in all the photos, and it was difficult for Patricia, who was already plaing my assistant, to hold the reflector and for Inês to maintain composure, but the 3 of us behave beautifully and the result was even better than the expectacions.

Tutorias de fotografia? Modo manual

Hoje vou começar a minha serie sobre tutoriais de fotografia neste blog, muita gente têm me pedido dicas para fotografar e perguntado como edito as minhas fotos, especialmente no facebook e no flickr e decidi explicar isso aqui.

Today I'm going to start my photography tips series on the blog Many people have asked me for photograph tips and asked how I edit my photos, especially on facebook and flickr and so, I decided to explain it here.

As dicas de hoje são de como fotografar em modo automático numa DSLRS ou "digital single-lens reflex cameras" que são as câmaras reflex, ou seja, usam um sistema de espelhos em forma de prisma para refletir a luz vinda da lenta para um visor óptico na parte de traz da câmara. Estas são as câmaras profissionais ou semi-profissionais e são as que normalmente têm um modo manual.

Para mim, aprender a fotografar no modo manual foi muito importante e ajudou-me a perceber melhor a fotografia e como a explorar de diferentes maneiras.

Claro que também é possível tirar boas fotografias no modo automático, no entanto é sempre bom saber controlar a câmara, dizer-lhe o que queres e como queres para ter resultados cada vez mais impressionantes.

Today's tips are about shooting in automatic mode on DSLRs or "digital single-lens reflex cameras" which use a system of mirrors shaped prism to reflect the light from the slow to a optical display on the back of the camera. Tese are the "professional" and "semi-proficional" cameras that are the ones that usually have a manual mode.

For me, learning how to shoot in manual mode was very important and helped me to better understand photography and how to explore it in different ways.

Of corse it is also possible to take good pictures in automatic mode, however it is always good to know how to control the camera, tell it what you what and how you want it, to have more and more impressive results.

É muito importante, para controlares o modo manual da tua câmara, perceberes que estás apenas a dizer á maquina a quantidade de luz que vai chegar ao censor. Uma fotografia é sub-exposta quando pouca luz chegou ao censor, ou seja, é uma fotografia muito escura e uma foto é sobre-exposta quando acontece o contrario e a fotografia fica muito clara, em qualquer um destes casos, a fotografia vai perder alguma informação que poderá ser muito valiosa. 
Para saberes qual é a quantidade de luz correta as DSLRs têm um fotómetro incorporado como o da imagem a cima, á medida que vais mudando os valores da abertura, velocidade e ISO, o ponteiro move-se, quando estiver no centro, quer dizer que tens uma exposição equilibrada.

Hoje vou explicar, muito resumidamente, o que são cada um destes 3 elementos da exposição.

It is very important, to controle the manual mode of your camera, that you understand that you are just saying to the machine the amount of light that will reach the censor. 

A photograph is underexposed when little light reached the censor, so it is a very dark photo and a photo is overexposed when he picture have a lot of light, in any of these cases, the picture will lose some information that can be very valuable.

To find out what is the correct amount of light, DSLRs have a photometer built in like the une in the image above. As you go changing the values of aperture, shutter speed and ISO, the pointer moves and when it is in the center, it means that you have a balanced exposure.

Today I will explain, very briefly, what are each of these three display elements.

Abertura do Diafragma (F) // Aperture

O diafragma é como uma barreira com um orifício que aumenta e diminui que existe em todas as lentes.

É facil de perceber que quanto maior for este orifício, mais luz vai chegar ao censor e quanto mais pequeno, menos luz entrará. Quanto maior for o orifício, menor será a profundidade de campo, ou seja (e esta é a parte divertida) mais desfocado estará o fundo e tudo o que tu não quiseres focar. Quanto menor for o orifício, mais focada estará a imagem toda.

Mas as nossas câmaras não querem que isto pareça demasiado fácil e por isso quanto maior for o valor de F, menor será a abertura do diafragma.

The diaphragm is a barrier with a hole that exists in all lenses and increases and decreases it's size. It is easy to realize that the larger is the hole, more light will reach the censor and the smaller, less light enters. The larger the hole is, the less depth of field, so more (and this is the fun part) blurred will be the background and everything you do not want to focus on. Smaller the orifice, more focused will be the entire image. 

But this seems too easy so, larger is the F value, smaller is the aperture.

Velocidade // Shutter Speed 

A captura de uma fotografia nas câmaras digitais é feita por um sensor que fica escondido por trás de uma cortina, o obturador.

Quando disparamos a foto, o obturador abre e permanece aberto durante X segundos para deixar passar a luz e depois fecha.

Quanto mais lento demorar a fechar, mais luz entra e a imagem terá "mais movimento". Quanto mais rápida for a velocidade do obturador, menos luz irá entrar para o sensor e a imagem terá uma aparência mais "congelada".

**

Capturing a photograph, in digital cameras, is done by a sensor that is hidden behind a curtain, the shutter.

When the photo is shoot, the shutter opens and remains open for X seconds to pass the light, and then closes.

The slower take's to close, more light enters, the image will have "more movement" and be blurred. Faster the shutter speed, less is the light that will enter the sensor and the image will look more "frozen".

ISO

O ISO é a sensibilidade do sensor á luz, quanto maior for o ISO mais sensível estará o sensor e por isso mais luz irá captar.

Mas seria demasiado fácil se pudéssemos dizer á câmara que precisamos de mais luz sem nenhuma consequência, com o ISO a história repete-se, quanto maior ele for, mais granulada fica a imagem.

**

ISO is the sensitivity of the sensor, the larger it is, the more sensitive is the ISO sensor and so will capture more light.

But it would be too easy if we could say that the camera will need more light without any consequences, with ISO history repeats itself, the larger it is, the grainier the image became.

Parece imenso para aprender de uma só vez, mas depois de fazeres alguns exercícios e treinares imenso, estes 3 elementos vão tornar-se intuitivos.

It seems a lot to learn at once, but from doing some exercises and training a lot, these three elements will become intuitive.
