365 days project

Olá oláa!
Acho que começo os posts sempre da mesma maneira e ao sugerir isto mudei um bocado as coisas, ás vezes é preciso variar e é por isso que hoje venho falar-vos de um projeto meu.
Inspirada pelos artistas e fotógrafos que vos tenho vindo a mostrar, decidi iniciar o meu próprio projeto dos 365 dias com o qual me proponho a tirar e publicar uma foto por dia.
Podem acompanhar este projeto diariamente no meu flickr, ou aqui no blog, com as 7 fotos de cada semana.

Hii!!
I think I always start the post's in the same way every single time and suggesting that, I changed a little the things around here. But this is not the only change, this week, inspired by this artists and photographers that I been shown to you, I started my one 365 days project with which I propose to take and publish a photo a day.
You can follow the project daily on my flickr or here on the blog every week.

"Hoje não dormi... Ontem não devia ter tomado aquele café.

Inventei sonhos que devia ter tido e não tive.

Agora ando a dormir, vagueando na minha mente.

Hoje tirei a primeira foto de 365, é Domingo,

"Today I didn't sleep... I shouldn't have drank that coffee yesterday. 

I invented dreams that I wold have and haven't.

Now I'm sleepwalking, wandering through my mind.

Today I took the first photo of 365, it's Sunday, 

April 17, 2016 and I didn't sleep"

"O vermelho, a dor...

Não poderias ser mais silencioso pois não?

Isso seria como um conto de fadas 

mas não me posso queixar , 

afinal de contas sou saudável"

"The redness, the pain...

You couldn't be more silent, couldn't you?

That would be like a fairy-tail 

but I can't complain, "I'm healthy"."

Acho que ainda é muito cedo para saber, ou para dizer, mas este está a tornar-se quase como um diário visual, uma forma de contar histórias, inventar mundos e personagens.

Em algumas das fotografias fiz de "modelo" mas não me reconheço lá, sou eu como poderia ser outra pessoa qualquer ou uma estátua, acho que não interessava, é apenas uma personagem ente muitas.
Tenho andado a explorar os dípticos e a experimentar conjugar imagens diferentes numa só, assim como o desenho, por enquanto digital, por cima da foto.

I guess is to early to say, or to know, but this project is becoming a visual diary, a way of telling stories and inventing realities.
In some of the photos I was the "model", but I don't recognize myself in them, it's me, as it could be someone else, or a statue, I think it doesn't matter, it's just a character in among many others.
I have been experimenting with diptychs, combining different images into one and drawing over the photos.

I hope you've like this week's photos, next week there will be more!

Olá olá, 

Sei que já estavam com saudades minhas, esta semana que passou foi muito atribulada, tive muito que fazer para a faculdade e a Patricia começou a trabalhaaar!!

E para regressar em grande, venho apresentar-vos mais uma jovem fotógrafa da qual gosto imenso e com a qual falei já á algumas semanas.

Ela chama-se Emily Moy, tem 18 anos, vive em Washington, nos estados Unidos sempre foi fã das artes e contou-me que a forma como começou a explorar o mundo da fotografia não foi muito interessante...

Os pais compraram-lhe uma câmara compacta para uma viagem de turma no 8º ano, com a qual se divertiu imenso. Depois da viagem continuou a tirar fotos com esta maquina, especialmente á natureza e foi-se desenvolvendo assim o gosto pela fotografia.

Hiii! You must have missed me, this past week has been troubled, I have had a lot to do to school and Patricia started to work!!

And, to return in greatness, I'll present to you guys a new young photographer that I really like and with which I spoke a few weeks ago. Her name is Emily Moy, she is 18 and live's in the Washington DC/Maryland area in the United States, she always been a fan of arts and told me that the way she began to explore the world of photography was not very interesting...

Her parents bought her a compact camera for 8th grade school band trip to GA, with which she had a lot of fun. After the trip, she kept on tanking photos with this machine, especially to nature and so, She developed a taste for photography.

Em 2013 descobriu o flickr e maravilhada, decidiu começar a expor lá as suas fotos. Inspirada com tudo o que foi descobrindo no site, decidiu fazer um upgrade ao seu equipamento e a 3 de Abril de 2014, conseguiu finalmente juntar dinheiro para a sua primeira DSLR, a Canon T3i.

No inicio de 2015 descobriu uma fotografia que lhe interessou bastante e que a fez distanciar-se finalmente da fotografia de natureza, foi um auto retrato de Alex Currie que pertencia á sua serie das 365 fotos.

Inspirada pelas suas fotografias e pelo trabalho da Gina Vasquez, no dia 1 de junho, Emily decidiu começar também a sua serie 365 dias.

Inicialmente, começou por ir adiantando fotos, tirava imensas num dia e depois ia publicando uma por dia. Depois, conheceu a Alexandra, da qual já vos falei AQUI, que a aconselhou a tirar apenas uma por dia, o que a fez melhorar imenso.

Quando as aulas recomeçaram, ela fez uma pausa deste projeto, lutando para se ajustar e equilibrar os dois "trabalhos" e em novembro regressou com um novo folgo e imensas fotografias, percebendo assim o quão importante este projeto era para ela.

In 2013 she found Flickr and amazed, she decided to expose her photos in there. Inspired by everything she find on the site, she decided to upgrade her equipment and On April 3, 2014, she saved up enough money and got her first DSLR, the Canon T3i. She was in love.

In the beginning of 2015 she found one photography that caught her attention, wich made her step away from the nature theme photography. It was a self portrait from Alex Currie that belongs to her serie of 365 photos.

Inspired by his photos and by the work of Gina Vasquez, on June 1st, 2015, she uploaded her first photo for the 365, marking the start of her journey as a serious photographer.

At the begining she was delaying photos, she would take a lot in one day and than publish them one a day. Then she met Alexandra whom I have just spoke of HERE, she told her to take only one per day, what made her better. 

When the class started she made a pause in this project, fighting to ajust and equilibrate the two works and in november she came back with a clear mind and a lot of photos, Understanding how important this project was to her.

"Estas fotos, que tirei com o meu retorno, marcaram o nascimento do meu estilo, 

o meu propósito em relação á fotografia. 

Queria fazer fotografia de retrato conceptual e apaixonei-me pela

 forma simples como um retrato consegue conter tanta emoção e história. 

Estas fotos marcam o começo de um desejo que tinha por contar uma 

história ou transmitir emoções através da fotografia de retrato"

"Those photos that I took for my return marked the birth of my style, 

my purpose and desire in photography. While I had originally 

intended to do conceptual based portraits, I fell in love with 

how a simple portrait can convey such emotion and story. 

Those photos marked the start of my desire to tell a story or

 convey emotions through portraiture photography."

Ainda me contou que com este projeto, para alem de ter melhorado imenso a sua forma de fotografar, também conseguiu coisas que nunca imaginara possível, como conhecer a Gina Vasquez, a fotografa que inicialmente fora sua inspiração, divertiu-se imenso, mas também teve os seus percalços e dificuldades.
Em relação a um estilo pessoal, não o sabe ainda descrever, deixando essa parte para o espectador, concentrando-se em contar a história, tirar a fotografia e aprender, mas diz que passará por algo  colorido, melancólico, expressivo e ainda assim subtil.

She told me that with this project, besides having improved her style of shooting, she also accomplish things she never imagined possible, as to know Gina Vasquez, the photographer that which was her inspiration, she had a lot of fun but also had its setbacks and difficulties.
As a final remark, She told that she did not know how to describe her personal stile, leaving that part to the viewer, focusing on telling the story, taking pictures and learn, but he says it will go for something colorful, melancholic, expressive and yet subtle.

Exposição Absorto

Oláa!

Tal como prometido, hoje venho contar-vos como correu a minha primeira exposição "a serio".

É verdade que já tinha exposto trabalhos noutros locais como no noc noc em Guimarães, ou na faculdade de direito, como podem ver AQUI, mas esta foi diferente porque fui eu, a Paula, a Daniela e a Emilia, outras artistas envolvidas no projeto, que a organizamos e a criamos em todos os seus aspetos.

Podem ver AQUI o cartaz e o texto que explica melhor o "conceito" da exposição no seu geral, o porquê da palavra Absorto como titulo, como sumário das nossas preocupações tão divergentes e que no entanto se cruzaram num só espaço.

As promised, today I come to tell you about my first exhibition. Paula, Daniela, Emilia and I organized and created this in all its aspects.

HERE you can see the poster and the text that best explains the “concept”, why the word Absorto as title, as a summary of our concerns and works that were so different and yet that can be attended in one place.

Agora vou mostrar-vos algumas fotos dos trabalhos que lá podiam encontrar.

Vou começar pelo trabalho da Paula Vieira, chamado onda de sobras que pretende retratar o tema da poluição num dos locais mais naturais do planeta, as praias.

Como podem ver, esta onda é feita com materiais encontrados nas praias, que fora da época balnear estão cheias de lixo. Uma das coisas que mais achei interessante foram as sombras que esta onda criava nas paredes.

I’ll start by talking about Paula Vieira work, it is called “wave of leftovers”, portraying the pollution issue in one of the most natural places on the planet, the beaches.

As you can see, this wave is made with materials found on the beaches, which are full of garbage.

A seguir poderia-mos ver o trabalho da Daniela, intitulado RAW, que propunha pensar na brutalidade da matéria, do corte e do gesto.

"A crueza aparente do que se presencia é suficiente para a criação de 

imagens. Não existe a necessidade de “corromper” com elementos 

externos (como tintas, desenhos, etc.), bastar dispor, somar e aglutinar 

a matéria numa única e equilibrada composição."

Below we can see the work of Daniela, entitled RAW, which it proposed thinking about the brutality of the raw matter, the cut and gesture.

"The apparent crudity of the presence is sufficient to create

images. There is no need to "corrupt" with external elements 

(such as paints, drawings, etc.), simply add and coalesce

matter in a unique and balanced composition. "

A peça seguinte era da Emilia Ferreira, chamava-se "nódoa" e expressava da discrição da passagem do tempo, um tempo incontrolável e clandestino, que cada vez passa mais rápido e cada vez espera menos por nós.

Pensava também o acaso, o acaso da nódoa e do vinco.

The next piece was from Emilia Ferreira and was called “taint” and expressed the  discretion, uncontrollable, that the time passes faster and does not wait for us.

also thought about the coincidence, the accident from stain and crease.

Finalmente chegamos ao meu primeiro trabalho desta exposição, chamado Narciso, a adoração do “self”, o reconhecimento do eu, do reflexo e da imagem. 

Esta é uma peça interativa e por isso é complicado mostrar em imagens o que poderiam experienciar com estes óculos narcisistas, virados para nós próprios, absorvidos numa adoração de nós mesmos.

My first work of this exhibition is called Narcissus, the worship of the “self” recognition of the self, the reflection and image.

This is an interactive piece and so it is difficult to show in pictures what they could experience with these narcissists glasses, facing ourselves absorbed in adoration of ourselves.

O meu segundo e ultimo trabalho da exposição chama-se eco, uma serie de auto-retratos que ecoam num confronto entre o eu e o outro e que relacionei com o trabalho anterior, pensando no mito do narciso, enaltecendo a deusa Eco que morre de desgosto, rejeitada pelo narciso.

My second and last work is called echo, a self-portrait series echoing a confrontation between self and the other. It is Associated to the previous work, thinking of the Narcissus myth, praising to the goddess Eco die of disgust, rejected by Narcissus.

Podia falar muito mais sobre qualquer um dos trabalhos, mas ficaria para uma próxima porque este post já está enorme!

No geral, apesar se sempre haver trabalho pela frente, sentimo-nos muito felizes com a receção que esta nossa primeira exposição teve e com o grande numero de pessoas que a viram.

I could say much more about any of the works, but that would be more to a future blog, because this post is already huge!

Overall, although there is always work to do, we where very happy with the reception that our first exhibition had and the large number of people who saw it.
